As I get older I learned that traveling is one of the most fulfilling things and mostly everyone I know can agree with that. But one thing that comes along with traveling is of course packing and that isn’t fulfilling at all. I always struggle with how to pack and what to bring because I always over pack. Today I am making this blog not just for you but for me too! I will be traveling this week so I will definitely use these tips real soon!
Tip #1: Before you start packing make a list! I know this is a little cliché but it actually saves lives. It is way better to have everything written down rather than going off the top of your head. Make a list of everything you plan on taking like your outfits (head to toe for what goes with your outfits), pajamas, toiletries, and even your camera gear. So as your putting things in your suitcase you can cross it off!
Tip #2:Lay out your outfits! When your packing it can get confusing on what shoes or shirt goes with what, so what I try to do is lay out my whole outfit on my bed or on the floor. This helps to avoid confusion and make sure I have every piece for my outfits.
Tip #3: Pack your outfit together! When your packing sometimes you put all your shirts together or all your skirts together, which is confusing, because then you find yourself trying to move everything out your suitcase to find your whole outfit. So what I do is pack my outfit together, for example say one of my outfits I am wearing a skirt and a cute top I will pack that together so it helps me while I’m getting ready in the morning.
Tip#4: Personally I don’t do this because I pack like tip#3 but you can roll your shirts! This will help if you need more space or if you’re taking a carry on. You can roll your shirts or your pajamas to save a little bit of room.
Tip#5: Packing Cubes! I recently bought packing cubes and used them on my trip to Florida. I honestly love them because it helps you stay organized and it save so much space. They are not expensive on amazon and they have lots of pretty colors!

Tip#6: Store all your cosmetics and toiletries in one bigger bag. This will help you stay organized and not lose anything. So I usually store all my hair ties, brush, make up remover wipes, lotion, deodorant, and all those kinds of stuff together in one bag. This will seriously help.
Tip#7: Zip-lock and seal your liquids! No matter what I always put a bag around my shampoos, tooth paste, make up foundation, etc. With the pressure of the airplane being so high you never know what can explode in your bag, so for safety I always put my liquids sealed so my clothes don’t get damaged.
Tip#8: Take neutral colored shoes! I know when traveling it is so easy for your shoes to take up all the room so what I like to do is try to pack 3 shoes in total. Sometimes it’s more because I have to bring a dressier shoe for certain things, but I usually bring comfortable shoes for the airplane most of the times my Birks. Then in my suit case I have my comfortable Adidas and another shoe that I chose to bring! If I bring those shoes I know that they will match with a lot because my Adidas are black and white while my Birks are a light brown. By following this it will save you a lot of room and your suitcase won’t be as heavy.
Tip#9: Portable steamer! Oh my gosh y’all I got this portable steamer at Target and it honestly saves lives. It is small so it’ll fit in your suit case but it gets the job done so well. Usually hotels have irons but if you’re staying somewhere else like an Airbnb where you’re not sure if they have irons in your host home this will solve a lot of problems. You don’t have to fold a certain way because you’re scared it’s going to get wrinkled and honestly I prefer steamers now over irons.
Tip#10: Leave room for souvenirs or shopping! Everybody knows when you go on vacation you either go shopping and/or bring back souvenirs. When you’re packing just remember “okay if I want to bring back stuff do I have enough room or will this fit in my carry on?” Plan ahead instead of freaking out because your suitcase won’t close on the way home…it’s happened before.
I left the links down below for the packing cubes and portable steamer. I couldn’t find the exact link to my packing cubes but I put one similar. I hope you enjoyed these 10 simple tips and put them into use! Have a great week and see you stay tuned for next week for tips on something else!
